Project Overview:

This existing building that was constructed in the mid 1980’s was converted into University student accommodation with 164 self-contained studio apartments with communal facilities and is situated within 200 yards of the Nottingham Trent University campus. 

Our scope of work consisted of the complete installation of all above ground drainage (surface / foul), both residential / communal sanitary ware including 2No studios available with disabled person facilities, heating, hot and cold-water pipework distribution including thermal insulation from a centralised plantroom located with the basement, Air Conditioning/ventilation to both residential/communal areas.

The plantroom works included the installation of 3No gas fired boilers, 2No 1000 litre hot water unvented Calorifiers, system expansion vessels, central heating and hot water circulation pumps, a twin-wall flue system, a 15,000 litre cold water storage tank, a cold-water booster pump set producing 10.5 litre per second at 5bar of cold water, and all the necessary pipework / fittings / valves and foil faced phenolic foam pipework thermal insulation.

The plantroom was controlled by a Building Management System (BMS) control panel and loose field equipment.

Furthermore, a Dry riser was installed from ground floor level to the 6th floor, with landing boxes on each floor and a smoke extract system (AOV) system was also installed.

Additional services were also provided for future retail units on the ground & basements levels.
